Why I am running for office:

My parents lived the values we all believe in: love of country, integrity, faith, hard work, and lending a helping hand to those in need.  But as tough as life was for them, they never had to face the overwhelming issues that we as a nation face today … a devastated economy, high unemployment, trillions of dollars in national debt, increased taxes, ineffectual border security, terrorist threats and an assault on traditional American values.

As your congresswoman I will not only vote for the values we believe in but I will bring the analytical skills that I have learned in the business world to actually help address and resolve these complex issues.

Promises, posturing and political polarization will do nothing to solve our problems.

What we need is leadership, not rhetoric.

I’ll end the gridlock, eliminate the rhetoric and focus on actually making our shared goals a reality.

It can be done and with your support I will do it.

Fixing Healthcare:

The federal healthcare plan passed by Congress is not the answer.  In fact, it will destroy healthcare in America ... raising cost and reducing coverage.  We need to repeal and replace this critically flawed federal healthcare plan.

I support common sense healthcare reform that will lower costs, preserve quality, end lawsuit abuse and maintain coverage for all Americans including the 47 million who are currently uninsured.  

I believe that good people working together can draft new legislation that will hold down costs, reign in abuses and assure quality care for every American, from seniors to young families -- without creating a huge financial burden for future generations.

Securing Our Borders:

Securing our borders is a chief responsibility of the federal government and a national security issue. I believe in strict enforcement of our immigration laws and border security to end illegal immigration.  It’s not complicated and it can be done.

Protecting Our Rights:

The Constitution and the Bill of Rights spell out our freedoms but only our eternal vigilance guarantees them. I will fight to defend all of our rights including the Second Amendment because gun ownership is not just about hunting, it’s about individual liberties and personal protection.

Promoting Fiscal Responsibility:

The money you earn belongs to you, not the federal government.   I will support permanent tax cuts and oppose wasteful government spending at every level.

Protecting Kansas Jobs:

The best way to protect our manufacturing, small business, agriculture, educational, and health services jobs here in Kansas is by solving the problems that all-too often come out of Washington.  We need to end wasteful spending, high taxes and excessive regulation.

Right To Life:

I believe abortion should be allowed only when the mother would die as a result of the birth.  In this situation the decision to terminate the pregnancy should be made by the mother.  Instances of pregnancy caused by rape, incest, etc. are the result of our society’s moral failure and should be addressed at that level and not through the use of abortion.
